Touching Rock
It's time to close the page on another chapter,
Time to lay the ghosts to rest;
I guess I'll always carry these memories of failure,
I guess I'll always carry this sense of regret.
But you'll see a smile on my face tonight,
See these tired grey eyes no longer haunted;
You'll see the stoop of my shoulders, bent by the shame,
Straighten where I stand:
I'm touching rock.
I'm touching rock.
Now the whispering spirits,
They can't steal my joy tonight:
Too firm the Rock, too real the Hope,
Too clear the Light.
Sometime's I've fixed my eyes on my own reflection,
Lost my balance and fallen down hard,
But tonight I am here where I am meant to be,
Standing,
And touching rock.
Touching rock.
I am touching the Rock that is forever,
The Rock that is higher than I,
I am touching the Rock of Ages,
And here I'll stand 'till the day I die.
'Till the day that I die.
It's time to close the page on another chapter,
Time to lay the ghosts to rest.
