The Pledge
Love , I will not turn away,
I won't seek the warmth of another's arms,
The roots of what I feel for you
run deep enough not to be harmed by this parting.

Waste the hours with aimless thoughts,
Race to the phone each time it rings - hoping . . .

Till all the photographs are faded and our beauty turned to dust,

So I'll drink this bottle to its dregs tonight,
Till my head is swimming with the images of you;
