A beautiful girl on a Dundee train,
Opens her heart and shares just a little of the pain,
Another glimpse into the violence of the soul,
And I long to share what I hold.
A friend from the village in a city flat,
Struggles with the bottle and a beaten heart,
But on the good days his eyes will shine ,
As he speaks of the one thing that keeps him alive
It's the "greater love has no man,"
It's the "I will give you rest,"
And if you could see what I have seen,
If you could know what I have known,
If you could learn what I have learned,
It will set you free; it will give you hope,
It will give you hope.
The deepest yearning of a lonely man,
Just someone to hold him, and he could hold her back,
Another let-down,another wasn't-to-be,
See him sitting on his own watching the shadows breed.
